Cholestasis In Pregnancy Consumer Afternoon: I am itching to know the answer!

Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is a liver disorder that occurs during pregnancy. It is characterized by a reduced flow of bile from the liver, leading to an accumulation of bile acids in the bloodstream.

The exact cause of ICP is not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to hormonal changes during pregnancy that affect the normal functioning of the liver and the gallbladder. It is more common in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Featuring the following speakers:

  • Jenny Chambers, CEO of ICP Support in the UK
  • Prof Catherine Williamson and Dr Caroline Ovadia, UK
  • and others
